Anna Brooks Named Director of Public Safety

Vice President for Campus Services Jack Silva recently announced the appointment of Anna Brookes as RISD’s newest Director of Public Safety following an extensive, nationwide search. Prior to assuming this role, Anna served as the College’s Interim Director of Public Safety, as well as Deputy Chief of Public Safety.

Anna began her career in emergency management with the American Red Cross. From there, she joined the Massachusetts State Police as a trooper in 1994. She rose through the ranks becoming a Strategic Planning Sergeant in 2009, an Executive Officer-Lieutenant/Sergeant in 2011, a Project Manager-Lieutenant in 2016, and an Investigator Detective-Lieutenant in 2018 before joining RISD in September 2019 as the College’s Deputy Director for Public Safety.

Director Brookes holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Colby College, and Master of Arts degrees from Anna Maria College and Naval Postgraduate School.
