Over the past several months, RISD Residence Life has welcomed two new colleagues to their team: Director of Residence Life Josh Jones and Associate Director of Residence Education Jasmine Mahoney.
Prior to joining our community this past April, Josh spent the last five years working on the third-party side of Student Housing, and most recently in partnership with Sacramento State.
When asked, “Why RISD,” Josh shared, “Choosing to join the RISD community was intentional. I genuinely enjoy working with creative minds while helping to provide a home away from home feel in the Residence Halls. Residence Life is an area where you can watch your students grow and develop throughout their time in college and Residence Life. I enjoy being part of the process and creating bonds with the students throughout their college journey.”
Before starting with RISD on June 1, Jasmine held various positions in Residence Life at institutions across the country, including having previously worked with RISD Residence Life as a Resident Director several years ago! Just prior to her return to our community, she worked at Boston College for the past three years, most recently having served as their Assistant Director for Residential Leadership & Learning at Boston College. In that role, Jasmine oversaw Living Learning Communities, advised the Residence Hall Association executive board, and worked with the department’s residential curriculum model.
When asked what she enjoys most about her work, Jasmine said, “There is truly never a dull moment in residence life! While we know our roles will always consist of ensuring students are housed, kept safe, and socially developed during their college years, the ways we go about doing that are constantly changing to meet the needs of each new student population. I really enjoy being a part of revamping or changing a process and seeing the difference it makes in students’ lives even when it may be challenging at times.”
Welcome to RISD, Josh and Jasmine!
