Continuing Education (RISD)
Part-time faculty can take RISD Continuing Education courses if they meet the following criteria:
- are members of the Rhode Island School of Design Part-time Faculty Association
- have completed five (5) years as part of the bargaining unit (not necessarily consecutively)
- have received a multi-year contract under which they teach at least three (3) teaching units
Members of the employee’s family (e.g. spouse, domestic partner, dependent children) can take courses offered by RISD Continuing Education.

Start Date: Classes that start after meeting eligibility criteria above.
End Date: Coverage ends on the last day of active employment.

Tuition Remission (RISD)
Dependents of RISD part-time faculty are eligible for remitted tuition to attend RISD if the employee fits the following criteria:
- are members of the Rhode Island School of Design Part-Time Faculty Association
- have completed five (5) years as part of the bargaining unit (not necessarily consecutively)
- have received a multi-year contract under which they teach at least three (3) teaching units
Coverage: $1,000 per year for four (4) years (five (5) years for the Architecture program). Applicants must apply and be accepted through RISD’s standard admissions process. The employee must apply for tuition remission through Human Resources 30 days prior to the beginning of the first semester of each academic year for the dependent child/children for whom they will seek the tuition benefit.
Start Date: Tuition incurred after meeting eligibility criteria above.
End Date: Coverage ends on the last day of active employment.
