Our onboarding roadmap offers a comprehensive, year-long guide designed to support newly hired staff throughout their first 12 months at RISD. It highlights key milestones, recommends touchpoints, and provides valuable information to help you thrive in your role and at RISD. With a focus on building self-confidence, gaining role clarity, and fostering meaningful connections, this roadmap ensures a smooth and successful transition into the RISD community, empowering you to grow and succeed as a valued member of our institution.
New Employee Orientations
Orientation offers tailored introductions for both staff and faculty, ensuring a strong start at RISD. Both orientation experiences provide an introduction to our institutional mission and values, inclusion practices, and a range of key information for our employees. Our goal is to ensure that every new hire feels informed and supported as they embark on their journey at RISD.
Institutional Knowledge
Held twice a year, these presentations are designed to provide new employees with a deeper understanding of how RISD works. Sessions may include introductions to strategic initiatives and other divisional presentations. This is a timely opportunity for new employees to gain insight into RISD’s culture, the leadership and strategic direction of our institution, fostering transparency and engagement across all levels. Through these presentations, new employees will better understand the institution’s strategic priorities and how their role aligns with and contributes to our broader organizational goals.
Social Gatherings
Twice a year, newly hired staff and faculty are invited to a new hire event specifically designed to create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, encouraging networking and the building of meaningful connections among our newest community members. These gatherings are intended to foster a sense of belonging and encourage participation in our community. By attending, you’ll strengthen relationships that are key to your success at RISD.
