Updates on Flexible Work, Employee Survey, and Staff Compensation Study

On March 24, Interim President Dave Proulx issued a memo to the community with updates regarding the Future of Work and RISD’s Remote and Hybrid Work Pilot Program; the 2021 Staff Engagement Survey; and the recently announced staff compensation study.

Highlights include:

  • Continued support for ongoing flexible work arrangements, with guidelines and support resources to follow in the coming weeks.
  • Planned actions related to 2021 Staff Engagement survey identified areas of improvement: pay/career progression, social equity and inclusion, performance management, and confidence in senior leadership/cross-functional collaboration.
  • A review of RISD’s compensation and job structure for staff to create a consistent and modern compensation structure and job framework that is fair, equitable and compliant, and enables the recruitment, retention, and reward of RISD employees. The institution’s consulting partner for this important project is Aon, with final recommendations expected in late summer/early fall of 2022.
