Holidays
RISD officially observes a number of paid holidays throughout the year. Staff budgeted to work at least 17.5 hours per week (910 hours per year), including employees in the orientation and review period, receive paid holidays based on their standard work day. Bereavement Leave

Family and Medical Leave & Parental Leave (FMLA)
RISD provides FMLA and Parental Leave to eligible non-temporary staff who have worked for RISD 12 months prior to a request for leave and have worked 1,250 hours during the 12-month period preceding the commencement of leave. Review the FMLA and parental leave policy.
Jury Duty

Paid Parental Leave
RISD provides paid parental leave to full- and part-time regular and term appointment staff whose scheduled annual hours for their primary position are at least 910 hours per year. Review the paid parental leave policy.
Unpaid Leave of Absence
RISD provides the opportunity for eligible staff to request an unpaid leave of absence, extending beyond permitted personal days. Review the unpaid leave of absence policy.
School Involvement Leave
Employees who have been employed for at least 12 consecutive months are entitled to up to 10 hours of leave during any 12-month period to attend school conferences or any other school-related activities for a child of whom the employee is the parent, foster parent, or guardian.
The employee must provide reasonable advance notice to their immediate supervisor and make a reasonable effort to schedule time away from work so as not to disrupt department operations. Non-exempt employees may use vacation or personal time to be paid for time away from work.
